Free will or no free will: and why do we desire to do bad things, if we are basically good?

In my experience, they don't. People make up all kind of reasons the things are not bad. Hitler thought killing millions of people was saving the Aryan race. Soldiers think 'killing the enemy' is saving their country. Etc.
